The Kiski Valley Turkey Trot 5K Race and 1Mile Fun Run is a community event for the whole family to enjoy this Thanksgiving! This race is for the serious or the casual runners or walkers of all ages. It has become a great family outing to attend before the family gathering for a holiday feast. We are offering an on-site race that is digitally timed by Miles for Smiles on our 5K certified out and back course at Kunkle Park, Apollo PA. We are also offering a virtual option for those who wish to participate at their own location on their own timing. (Virtual Option is for 5K Registrations only)
In-Person 5K Race and 1Mile Fun Run
The 5K in-person race begins at 9am and departs and ends at Kunkle Park, Apollo PA. The 5K is digitally timed and all race awards will be given at the closing ceremony which begins when most runners complete the course. You must be present to receive awards! The 1Mile Fun Run takes place within the park and starts shortly after the 5K. The 1Mile is not a timed event.
Snacks and water will be provided.
Race packet pickups will be available the evening before the race as well as race morning. Pick up the night before makes race day smoother!!
As public health guidelines are subject to change, Kiski Valley Turkey Trot reserves the right to move some or all on-site registrants to the Virtual race should CDC an PA restrict/reduce number of runners allowed. All registrations are non-refundable. Please, remember that this is a charity event. Even if you are moved from in-person to virtual you will receive your shirt and are eligible for the virtual contests described below.
In-Person 5K Team Challenge
Run for the team cup award. Team members must register together online as a group of at least three. Top three times of each team will be averaged to determine the fastest team.
Virtual 5K Race
Run from anywhere! Florida? Texas? Japan? No problem. Sign up for the virtual 5K and you can either pick up your event t-shirt the night before at a location near the onsite race so you will have it for Thanksgiving day or we will mail your shirts the following week. While the virtual race won’t be timed for awards, we encourage participants to post pictures of themselves and their friends and family running together with the hashtag #KVTurkeyTrot the day of the race. Thank you for supporting charity on our national day of Thanksgiving!
All virtual participants must register by November 15th!

Our Inspiration – Jenna’s Story
This race benefits the Kiski Area Youth Network that was inspired by the life and faith story of Jenna Prusia. Jenna was a junior at Kiski Area High School when she lost her life on December 28, 2012 in a sled riding accident. Jenna had a deep faith in God and love for her friends and classmates at Kiski. KAYN was started to share Jenna’s faith story and help teens in our community to navigate life and the challenges that teens face growing up in an ever changing world. Come run to remember Jenna and honor a young life lived well!
